Printify vs Printful Profit: How to Compare Before You List
A simple way to compare POD providers using base cost, shipping and fees — not marketing claims.
Printify and Printful both work. The wrong question is “which is best?” The right question is which combination of blank, print method, shipping zone and sell price leaves you more net profit on the SKUs you actually sell.
Compare one SKU at a time
- Pick the same garment type and print placement.
- Copy each provider’s base product price into the POD Profit Calculator.
- Enter shipping charged to the buyer and the shipping you will pay.
- Add your marketplace fee % (and a fixed fee if you use one).
The higher net profit wins for that SKU — not the brand with better ads.
What usually changes the winner
- Base blank cost on popular tees and hoodies
- Shipping to your top country (US vs EU can flip the result)
- Quality / return rate — a cheaper base that causes reprints is not cheaper
- Branding options only if customers pay for them
After you pick a provider
Run the same numbers through the Etsy Fee & Profit Calculator if you sell on Etsy, because listing, offsite ads and processing fees stack on top of POD cost.
Limitations
Provider prices change by region and promotion. Recheck quarterly. This guide does not replace each company’s current price sheets.
FAQ
Should I use both providers?
Some sellers route by product or region. Only do that if your catalog and support load can handle it.
Which provider is “cheaper”?
It depends on the SKU, shipping region and your defect rate — model both in the POD profit calculator.
Should I include ads?
Yes if you run them — otherwise profit looks fake.
Do platform fees stack with POD cost?
Yes. Use Etsy Fee & Profit or POD Profit with base product cost from the provider.
