Print-on-demand profit is thin when base cost, shipping and marketplace fees stack. Enter your supplier base price, what the customer pays, and fee percentages to see net profit before you publish another niche.

Swap the base cost field to compare providers without rebuilding the whole quote.

How it works

Revenue = sell price + shipping charged.
Expenses = POD base + your shipping cost + platform % of revenue + fixed fee + ads.
Profit = revenue − expenses.

For Etsy-heavy shops, also run the dedicated Etsy Fee & Profit Calculator for listing and offsite ads detail.

Worked example

$29.99 shirt, $14.50 base, $4.99 shipping both ways, 6.5% + $0.30 fees.
Revenue $34.98. Fees ≈ $2.57. Expenses ≈ $22.06. Profit ≈ $12.92 before ads — then test with real ad spend.

When POD margins break

Profit under $5 after fees Raise price or switch blank/provider
Shipping charged < shipping cost Stop eating shipping on every order
Ads > half of profit Pause that SKU until creative converts

Frequently asked questions

Does this include tax?

No. Sales tax/VAT handling depends on your marketplace and location.

Can I compare Printify vs Printful?

Yes — change only the base cost (and shipping if quotes differ) and compare profit side by side.

Are POD Profit Calculator results exact for production?

Treat them as planning estimates. Calibrate against your equipment, invoices and waste logs before you lock customer quotes.

Do my inputs leave my browser?

No. PressMath calculators run client-side. Only the contact form sends data you intentionally submit.

What should I do after I get a number?

Open a related calculator or guide on this page, sanity-check units, then verify on a sample before a full run.
