Heat Press Settings for DTF (Starting Points That Reduce Reprints)
Temperature, time, pressure and peel basics for DTF — plus how to validate your own press.
DTF fails in the press more often than in the printer. A correct RIP file still peels, cracks or washes poorly if temperature, time or pressure are wrong.
Starting point (verify with your film brand)
- Temperature: often around 300°F (149°C)
- Time: commonly 10–15 seconds
- Pressure: medium to firm, even across the platen
- Peel: cold or warm depending on film — never guess

Validation checklist
- Measure platen temperature with a probe — do not trust the dial alone.
- Pre-press the garment 2–3 seconds to remove moisture.
- Press a test swatch, wash once, then commit to a client order.
- Keep a shop log: film brand, garment brand, temp, time, pressure, peel, wash result.

FAQ
Can I use the same settings for every film?
No. Brands differ. Treat PressMath ranges as starting points only.
Why is the guide only a starting point?
Film brands, platen type and garment thickness change results. Log your winning settings.
Hot peel failed — now what?
Wait longer or switch to the film’s recommended peel mode; do not force it.
Can I use shirt settings on hats?
Often no — use hat platens and lower aggression on foam fronts.
